Community Service - Devotion in Action

Community service is an important part of integrating the benefits of meditation in daily activity. It is truly devotion in action. Most of us are not able to offer direct physical help to those who are in the greatest need. Because of this, any voluntary donations or contributions made on this website for educational materials will be directed to important community service and humanitarian projects of Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP).

In addition to establishing devotional meditation centers throughout the world, JKP is committed to creating community service programs that focus on serving the poor and disadvantaged through charitable medical hospitals.

The greatest feature of these facilities is that all medical care, testing, treatment, hospitalization and medicines are provided 100% free of cost to patients.

Community Service in Mangadh

JKP Bhakti Dham, the main ashram and birthplace of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu ji Maharaj, is located in the rural farmland of southeast Uttar Pradesh state.

Adjoining the ashram is Kripalu Charitable Hospital. Inaugurated in 2003, the hospital serves a rural population of approximately one million in a 60 km radius and has treated 250,000 patients since opening.

All hospital services and medicine are completely free of charge. Free medical eye camps and cataract surgeries are organized on a regular basis.

The hospital has gained tremendous popularity in the surrounding villages, and even with an all-volunteer staff of 60, the immense rush of patients has caused the hospital to limit the number of patients to be examined every day to four hundred.

The hospital offers allopathic, homeopathic, naturopathic and ayurvedic treatments. Operating costs are met by charitable support from donations, and it is totally run by an all-volunteer medical staff.

Community service in Barsana

JKP Rangeeli Mahal is located in Barsana village, 150 kilometers south of New Delhi.

Surrounded by a rural population of 200,000, the health care needs of this region are met only by a small government hospital lacking trained personnel, modern equipment and regular hours.

To address this need, on January, 2007, the Kripalu Charitable Hospital was inaugurated on two acres of land adjoining JKP Rangeeli Mahal. The all-volunteer staff at the hospital serves an estimated 200 patients a day.

60 kilometers east of Barsana lies the more densely populated town of Vrindaban on the banks of the holy Yamuna River.

Existing hospitals are unable to meet the burgeoning health care needs of the growing population of this once-small village.

Land has been acquired next to JKP Jagadguru Dham (indicated by the arrow) for the construction of a third Kripalu Charitable Hospital. Construction is scheduled to begin Fall 2008.
